For the third year running, the Villa Arson is renewing its partnership with the École Nationale Supérieure de Paris-Belleville (ENSA-PB), as part of a project taking place at the Villa Arson from April 4 to 13, and this year involving the Centre National de la Danse in Pantin (CND).
After “Art, Architecture, Territoire” in 2023 and “Un center culturel pour la vallée de la Madeleine à Nice” in 2024, the theme of the 2025 workshop is “Territoire et architecture, La Villa Arson, une école de danse à Nice”, echoing the first attempts to renovate the former theater, in which choreographer Boris Charmatz was involved.
This work sequence is the fruit of experimental teaching at ENSA-PB by Bita Azimi, Éric Babin (architects) and Arnold Pasquier (filmmaker). He brings together the fields of architecture, video and dance. During previous workshops, several of the Villa’s teachers and workshop leaders were present, helping to enrich the discussions and energize the projects presented by the students. External speakers are also invited to each session, and meetings are organized in different locations depending on the issue at hand. This year, at the invitation of the CND, a choreographer will lead a workshop for students. This year, Tanin Torabi, artist in residence at Villa Arson, will lead a day-long workshop on Monday April 7, 2025 for 28 students from ENSA-PB and 6 students from Villa Arson.
