Ève Gabriel Chabanon was a PhD student at Villa Arson from 2021–2024.
Thesis title: “Ce chapitre commence deux fois. Justin Chin: élaborer le bruit ou l’identité en traduction.”
The project began with a teaching program aimed at students from various French-speaking art schools in France and abroad. It was based on a collective translation of poet Justin Chin’s collection Bite Hard, through workshops involving different guest speakers representing the major problems raised by the poems. During the project, Chabanon also worked on a film — both a graphic and a polyphonic object — conveying via a scripted rewrite the theoretical and poetic stakes of her research.
