Requirements for admissions based on advanced standing
Art school students, or those who hold equivalent qualifications from other establishments overseen by the Ministry of Culture, can apply to the Commission d’admission et d’équivalence, i.e.:
- 1st years to enter the 2nd year;
- Holders of a Certificat d’Études d’Arts Plastiques to enter the 3rd year;
- Holders of a Diplôme National d’Arts Plastiques to enter the 4th year;
- Holders of a Certificat d’Études Supérieures d’Arts Plastiques to enter the 5th year.
Advanced standing students can also join the school during their university studies in visual arts, or from other training programs in the arts.
If necessary, the Commission nationale d’équivalence can be called upon to mediate by the school’s admissions committee.
How do I apply?
1. Candidates must complete their online registration, including the following steps:
- fill out the application form including the specified attachments (in digital format) on the Taïga platform from 6 January to 12 March, 2025: https://taiga.archi.fr/taiga/cnd/;
- provide proof of your academic record in previous years, mentioning ECTS credits and diplomas obtained;
- pay the registration fee (via online payment), which is compulsory for the registration to be validated.
2. After a pre-selection, successful candidates are invited to present their application during an interview with the admissions committee jury on 1 and 2 April, 2025.
Unsuccessful candidates are notified by post.
3. Admissions depend upon the qualities shown by each candidate, taking into account the Villa Arson’s specific pedagogical remit and the number of available places. The results will be published on the Villa Arson website.
Holders of foreign qualifications
Students holding foreign diplomas and living abroad must send the same application.
At the time of registration, candidates must provide a digital copy of each diploma (Baccalaureate or equivalent, art studies etc.), translated and certified as true to the original by a sworn translator.
They must also provide proof of the level of the foreign diploma, a document which can be obtained from their home institution.
All foreign students (outside the French-speaking world) must have TCF or DELF level B2 (French language test) to join with advanced standing during graduation years (3rd or 5th).
Joining the school
Following the publication of exam results, successful candidates can only join the school once all administrative formalities concerning their registration have been completed.
Required documents

They must also provide a certificate attesting to the level of the foreign diploma, a document which can be obtained from their home institution.
