Set on Saint-Barth\u00e9lemy hill, Villa Arson lies on a vast estate of more than two hectares (almost five acres) boasting a splendid panorama of the city of Nice and the Baie des Anges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conceived in the 1960s thanks to the vision and drive of Minister of Culture Andr\u00e9 Malraux, Villa Arson is a unique kind of institution both in France and beyond, combining an \u00e9cole sup\u00e9rieure d\u2019art, a national contemporary art center and a residency program for artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designed by the architect Michel Marot, winner of the 1954 Grand Prix de Rome, Villa Arson is a labyrinth of concrete, stone and vegetation, where inner streets and patios, open-air amphitheatres, terraces and hanging gardens are all laid out harmoniously around the Arson family\u2019s 18th century home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Villa Arson is classified as a \u201cHistorical Monument\u201d and has also been awarded the \u201c20th Century Heritage\u201d label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
