Lines of research<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research undertaken by Villa Arson\u2019s teaching staff is now structured around five lines of enquiry, some of which are conducted in partnership with UniCA laboratories (the Sophia Antipolis Laboratory of Computer Science, Signals and Systems; and the Unit\u00e9 de Recherches Migrations et Soci\u00e9t\u00e9) and foreign institutions such as the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lead: Sophie Orlando (Villa Arson teacher) in collaboration with Christelle Alin (also Villa Arson)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La surface d\u00e9mange is a line of research into critical approaches to arts education. The namesake platform welcomes contributions on emancipatory forms of pedagogy from a variety of sources including higher education bodies in art and design, art centers and art activist networks. The platform has been accessible on the Villa Arson website since May 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n

ECART \u00ad\u2014 Resonating Ceramics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Lead: Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Bauchet (Villa Arson)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resonating Ceramics is an innovative teaching and research program led by four renowned European art and design schools with complementary specialisms which have been collaborating to develop contemporary ceramics since 2009 as part of the ECART network (European Ceramic Art and Research Team). The aim of Resonating Ceramics is to boost participating students\u2019 skills as well as the teaching expertise of partner art and design schools in the field of the ceramic arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Partner institutions: the \u00c9cole nationale sup\u00e9rieure des arts visuels de La Cambre \u2013 Brussels; the Haute \u00e9cole d\u2019art et de design (HEAD) \u2013 Geneva; the \u00c9cole sup\u00e9rieure d\u2019Arts plastiques de la Ville de Monaco; Le Pavillon Bosio \u2013 Monaco; EKWC: Sundaymorning@ekwc \u2013 Tilburg (artist-in-residence and research center promoting the development of ceramics in art, design and architecture); Flux Laboratory \u2013 Geneva; L\u2019Abri \u2013 Geneva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artworks developed from this program were the subject of an exhibition, Resonating Ceramics<\/em>, held in summer 2023 in the gardens of the Villa Arson.<\/p>\n\n\n
