For its third edition, the Magnetic program has selected artist Emilia Beatriz for a residency at Villa Arson and Violaine Barrois for a residency at Cove Park.<\/p>\n\n

Initiated by Fluxus Art Projects<\/a>, Magnetic brings together 10 residencies in France and the UK. Now associated with Cove Park<\/a> in Scotland as part of a tandem partnership, the Villa Arson has been part of the scheme since its creation in 2022 by theInstitut fran\u00e7ais du Royaume-Uni<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

Emilia Beatriz<\/h3>\n\n

Emilia Beatriz<\/a> is a Glasgow-based artist from the Puerto Rican diaspora, whose multidisciplinary practice is based on sensory narratives composed of still and moving images, texts, immersive installations and performances. Iel is co-founder of Collective Text, a collective whose actions aim to support accessibility in art and cinema. <\/p>\n\n

During her residency at Villa Arson in February\/March 2025, Emilia Beatriz will deepen her practice of sensory storytelling, creating new characters for speculative narratives about grief, resistance and loss.<\/p>\n\n

Violaine Barrois<\/h3>\n\n

Violaine Barrois<\/a> is a French visual artist whose practice questions the relationship between humans and landscape as a lived, transformative experience. Based in Marseille, she explores how landscapes shape our identities, uses and implicit knowledge, while revealing the importance of affective value. <\/p>\n\n

During her residency at Cove Park from October 28 to December 20, 2024, Violaine Barrois sets out to redefine the sensory relationship to coastal landscapes in an approach rooted in local cultural and ecological narratives. <\/p>\n\n

The Magnetic program<\/h3>\n\n

Created in 2022 under the aegis of Fluxus Art Projects, Magnetic is the fruit of a collaboration between the Institut fran\u00e7ais du Royaume-Uni and the British arts funding agencies, the three Arts Councils of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and Creative Scotland for Scotland, joined by the Institut fran\u00e7ais de Paris, the Ministry of Culture and the British Council.In 2024, Magnetic brings together ten leading art institutions: five in France – CAPC in Bordeaux, Frac Bretagne in Rennes, Frac Grand Large in Dunkirk, Villa Arson in Nice, B\u00e9tonsalon in Paris – and five in the UK – Wysing Arts Centre in England, Flax Art Studios in Northern Ireland, Cove Park in Scotland, Aberystwyth Arts Centre in Wales and Gasworks in London, England. Magnetic is gradually building an expanding network of partner residencies sharing the same commitments and values. <\/p>\n\n

Magnetic’s strengths:. A long-term, structuring bilateral cooperation program.. A choice of artist residencies supported by eight decentralized art institutions, two in London and two in Paris, that share common values.. Contemporary societal and environmental issues are at the heart of the program: artists work according to each specific context – geographical, historical, societal or artistic.. Each artist receives a minimum stipend of 2,500 euros per month for a two-month residency, as well as curatorial support, accommodation and a studio.. Tailor-made residencies, designed in consultation with the institutions’ curatorial teams, enable artists to interact with a wide network throughout their stay. <\/p>\n\n
